Spain at a glance
Checked 4 November 2026- Cheapest plan listed
- $31 GB / 30 days, Yesim (Saily: 1 GB / 7 days for $3.99)
- 7 days unlimited
- $18Ubigi, below Maya’s global $19.99
- 10 GB for 30 days
- $12Ubigi (Airalo and Nomad: $14)
- 30 days unlimited
- $44Ubigi, the lowest month here
These Spain plans are data-only, with no local phone number. Keep your home SIM on for bank and app SMS codes.
Why Spain is different
Unlimited is unusually cheap. Ubigi’s Spain page lists a week of unlimited data for $18 and 30 days for $44. Both undercut Maya’s global plan ($19.99 and $49.99), which is the cheapest unlimited option in most of our other guides.
Two networks show up. Nomad lists Movistar and Orange; Airalo and Ubigi name Orange. Holafly, Saily, Yesim and Maya didn’t name a network on the pages we read.
Spain is often one stop of several. Portugal, France and Andorra are close, and a Europe plan can save buying two eSIMs (see one country or several).
Quick picks
A week or two, normal use
A 10 GB / 30-day plan. Ubigi listed $12, Airalo $14.00 and Nomad $14.
Heavy use or tethering
Ubigi’s $18 week or $44 month of unlimited data are the lowest we found, below Maya’s global plan. Ubigi says a fair-use policy may apply.
Movistar and Orange
Nomad is the only provider here that lists two Spanish networks. 10 GB for 30 days costs $14 and 50 GB $35.
Or more countries
A Europe plan may be simpler. Airalo listed 15 days of unlimited Europe data for $49.00.
Step 1: Size your plan for Spain
Maps, ride-hailing, transit apps and messaging use little data. Uploading photos and videos and making video calls use much more. As a rough guide, maps and messaging use hundreds of megabytes a day, while video and video calls can use several gigabytes. These are general estimates, not measurements.
Under a week, maps, messages and transport apps
3–5 GB fixed plan
1–2 weeks, photos, social apps and video
10–20 GB fixed, or unlimited
Remote work, video calls, tethering a laptop
Unlimited, after checking its fair-use and hotspot rules
Step 2: Compare published prices
Unlimited plans by trip length
| Days | Airalo | Nomad | Holafly | Ubigi | Yesim |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 days | $11.00 (lowest listed) | $11 (lowest listed) | $11.90 | — | $12.60 |
| 5 days | $17.00 (lowest listed) | $18 | $18.50 | — | $21.00 |
| 7 days | $23.50 | $25 | $24.50 | $18 (lowest listed) | $29.40 |
| 10 days | $32.00 (lowest listed) | $33 | $33.50 | — | $35.93 |
| 15 days | $43.00 | — | $45.90 | $34 (lowest listed) | $46.80 |
| 30 days | $63.00 | — | $66.50 | $44 (lowest listed) | $68.40 |
Lowest listed price in the row — means no plan of that length was listed. Holafly ($3.90) and Yesim ($4.20) also sell a single day. Holafly allows 1 GB a day of hotspot sharing. Maya sells one global unlimited plan at the same price for every country: $9.99 for 3 days, $19.99 for 7, $27.99 for 14 and $49.99 for 30 (see Maya). Official pages, checked 4 November 2026.
Fixed-data plans
| Data | Airalo | Nomad | Saily | Ubigi | Yesim |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 GB | $4.003 days | $47 days | $3.997 days | — | $3.0030 days (lowest listed) |
| 3 GB | $6.007 days | $630 days | $6.9930 days | $530 days (lowest listed) | — |
| 5 GB | $9.0030 days (lowest listed) | $930 days (lowest listed) | $9.9930 days | — | $11.5230 days |
| 10 GB | $14.0030 days | $1430 days | $15.9930 days | $1230 days (lowest listed) | $19.2030 days |
| 20 GB | $20.0030 days (lowest listed) | $2130 days | $22.9930 days | — | $26.4030 days |
| 50 GB | $39.0030 days | $3530 days | — | $3430 days (lowest listed) | — |
Lowest listed price in the row Validity differs, so compare the small print as well as the price. Where a provider sells the same data amount for several lengths, we show the longest. Airalo also lists shorter versions (for example 10 GB for 7 days at $13.00). Ubigi also lists 10 GB for 8 days ($9), 25 GB for 30 days ($19) and 60 GB over 12 months ($29). Yesim also lists 30 GB for $33.60. Official pages, checked 4 November 2026.
One country, or several?
Plans on this page are sold for Spain. If your trip crosses borders, a Europe plan can be simpler: Airalo listed 15 days of unlimited Europe data for $49.00 and Holafly $51.50 (see our Europe guide). EU “roam like at home” rules apply to SIMs from EU operators; check each provider’s coverage list rather than assuming a single-country plan works next door.
Step 3: Check the fine print
- Networks. Nomad: Movistar and Orange. Airalo: Orange. Ubigi: Orange Spain. The others didn’t name one.
- Unlimited isn’t always unlimited. Ubigi says data sharing is allowed but a fair-use policy may apply. Holafly’s Spain page limits hotspot sharing to 1 GB a day (a 7-day plan includes 7 GB to share).
- Activation windows. Nomad starts a plan automatically 60 days after purchase if you haven’t used it. Saily says all plans have a 180-day activation period; after that the plan starts automatically. Ubigi’s plan starts when you arrive.
- Hotspot. Yesim says hotspot depends on the operator, and gives 180 days from purchase to activate.
- No local number. These plans are data-only. Saily sells an optional US phone number, and Yesim offers a 20-minute calling add-on.
The seven providers
Airalo
- Spain from
- $4.001 GB / 3 days
- Unlimited
- $23.507 days; $63.00 for 30 days
- 10 GB / 30 days
- $14.00
What stands out
Plans from 1 GB for 3 days ($4.00) to 50 GB for 30 days, and unlimited from 3 to 30 days, on Orange. 20 GB for 30 days ($20.00) is the lowest of that size here.
What to watch
Its 30-day unlimited ($63.00) costs more than Ubigi’s or Maya’s. The Spain page doesn’t state a fair-use limit.
Nomad
- Spain from
- $41 GB / 7 days
- 10 GB / 30 days
- $14
- Unlimited
- $113 days; $33 for 10
What stands out
Lists Movistar and Orange, the only provider here naming two networks. 10 GB for 30 days costs $14, and 50 GB $35.
What to watch
Unlimited stops at 10 days, and plans start automatically 60 days after purchase.
Holafly
- Spain from
- $3.901 day unlimited
- Unlimited
- $24.507 days; $66.50 for 30 days
- Fixed data
- Not sold
What stands out
Pick the number of days and get unlimited data, from $3.90 for a single day. Hotspot sharing is allowed up to 1 GB a day.
What to watch
Higher than Ubigi at every length we compared, and the Spain page doesn’t name a network.
Saily
- Spain from
- $3.991 GB / 7 days
- 10 GB / 30 days
- $15.99
- Unlimited
- Sold; check current price
What stands out
From the company behind NordVPN. 1 GB for 7 days costs $3.99, and you get 180 days to activate.
What to watch
10 GB ($15.99) costs more than Ubigi, Airalo or Nomad, nothing above 20 GB, and we couldn’t read its unlimited price for each length.
Ubigi
- Spain from
- $53 GB / 30 days
- 10 GB / 30 days
- $12
- Unlimited
- $187 days; $34 for 15; $44 for 30
What stands out
The lowest prices here for unlimited data (a week for $18, a month for $44) and for 10 GB over 30 days ($12). It also sells 60 GB over 12 months for $29 (5 GB a month).
What to watch
It names Orange only, and a fair-use policy may apply to unlimited plans.
Yesim
- Spain from
- $3.001 GB / 30 days
- 10 GB / 30 days
- $19.20
- Unlimited
- $29.407 days; $68.40 for 30
What stands out
The cheapest small plan here: 1 GB for 30 days at $3.00, and every fixed plan lasts 30 days.
What to watch
No network named, and its 10 GB ($19.20) and week of unlimited ($29.40) are the highest here.
Maya
- 3 days
- $9.99unlimited data
- 7 days
- $19.99unlimited data
- 30 days
- $49.99unlimited data
What stands out
One plan that keeps working if Spain is one stop of several. In Spain, though, Ubigi’s country plans were cheaper for a week and a month. It’s one global plan, so the same eSIM keeps working if Spain is one stop of several. Maya’s page says "No caps, no throttling."
What to watch
It renews automatically while Travel Mode is on, so turn it off when you get home. The page we read doesn’t name the local networks or spell out a fair-use policy, and we haven’t tested the no-throttling claim.
Will your phone work?
- eSIM-capable and unlocked. Apple lists iPhone XS, XS Max, XR or later. Settings → General → About should say "No SIM restrictions" next to Carrier Lock (full checklist).
- Bought in mainland China? Apple says that in China mainland only the iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, iPhone Duo, iPhone 17e and iPhone Air support eSIM. Many older mainland models use two physical SIM cards instead, so check for Add eSIM in your settings before you buy a plan.
- Bought in Hong Kong or Macau? Apple notes that certain iPhone models sold there have two nano-SIM slots. Check for Add eSIM in your settings first.
- Install before you fly. Install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi and leave the line switched off until you land (install guide).
Entry: EES now, ETIAS later
The Entry/Exit System (EES) has been fully operational at Schengen external borders since 10 April 2026. If you’re a non-EU visitor on a short stay, your first crossing records a face image and four fingerprints (children under 12 give no fingerprints). It’s free, and there’s nothing to apply for in advance. Allow extra time at the border on your first trip.
ETIAS, the travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, isn’t operating yet, according to the EU’s official Travel to Europe site. You can’t apply for it, and you don’t need it to visit Spain today.
Don’t pay for ETIAS yet
Some websites already sell “ETIAS applications”. ETIAS isn’t running, and EES is free, so you don’t need to pay anyone for either.
Our take
For most trips, Ubigi is the value pick: 10 GB for 30 days at $12 and the cheapest unlimited plans we found. If you want two networks, Nomad lists Movistar and Orange for $14. Crossing into Portugal or France? Price a Europe plan first.

Before you fly
Decide: Spain or Europe
If you’re visiting more than one country, compare a Europe plan before buying a single-country one.
Buy and install at home
Check your phone is unlocked and eSIM-capable (how to check), then install on Wi-Fi before departure. With Nomad, don’t buy more than 60 days ahead.
Switch on when you land
Turn on the travel line, enable data roaming for that line, and set it as your mobile-data line.
Keep tickets offline
Save train tickets, boarding passes and maps offline in case coverage drops on the way.
